🔪Prep work
- Allow short ribs to sit out at room temperature for at least 30 minutes.
- Dry short ribs off really well with paper towel.
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F.
In a small bowl, make a simple dry rub with salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder.
Coat all sides of the ribs with the seasoning blend.
Now, cover the ribs with olive oil on all sides.
Place ribs in a single layer on air fryer trays or the bottom of the air fryer basket.
Cook until internal temperature reaches at least 165°F internally.
*Although other cuts of beef can be consumed rare at 120°F, you will want to cook these longer, or else they won't be tender enough. This should take roughly 15 minutes.
Allow the short ribs for 10 minutes before digging in to seal in all the juices. That's it! Garnish with fresh parsley and serve!
Hint: The best way to know if they have reached the correct internal temperature is by using a meat thermometer like an instant read thermometer or an oven-safe thermometer to watch the temperature increase.
✨Variations
Here are a few flavor variations you can try!
- Add some sweetness - Mix in some brown sugar or brown sugar replacement to add a touch of sweetness to the dry rub.
- Add a little umami flavor - Coat the short ribs with soy sauce, tamari, or liquid aminos and reduce the salt added by half. Soy sauce adds complex savory flavors and will darken the color of the ribs.
- Spice them up - Add in a pinch of cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, or a little chili powder to the dry rub for a little heat.
- Herbaceous - Herbs and short ribs go hand in hand! Try adding some thyme or rosemary for a lovely earthy flavor.
